IPAC Launches Smarttape Centre Website

2004-06-10 -- The Institute of Public Administrators of Canada (IPAC) today launched the “Smarttape Centre for Innovative Regulation”. This virtual centre will be directed by IPAC, in consultation with the regulatory community in both the public and private sector in Canada and around the world.

The key feature of the Centre will be the www.smarttape.ca, a website will help researchers and policy makers stay on top of emerging issues in public sector management and regulation. It will feature “toolkits” that will provide an overview of the leading literature in key topics. The website will offer access to a detailed bibliography that will be searchable.

"The Smarttape centre aims to provide timely information and a forum for discussion," said Patrice Dutil, Director of Research at IPAC. “Our hope is that the centre will become a rallying point for all those individuals in industry and the public sector who are interested in this vital aspect of what government does.”

The Smarttape Centre continues the work of the “Red Tape to Smart Tape: Fostering Innovative Regulation” international conference that was organized by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada 18 moths ago.

Created in 1947, IPAC is a private, non-profit organization and the leading Canadian organization concerned with the theory and practice of public management. Its scope covers public administration and governance from the global to the local level. It is an association with 17 regional groups across the country providing networks and forums at the regional, national and international levels. It enables public servants from all spheres of government, university and college teachers, staff, students, and others interested in public sector management and to exchange ideas on trends, practices and innovations in public administration.
